Every woman’s secret: Spanx Shapewear!

Every woman’s secret: Spanx Shapewear!

Women the world over cheered roundly [no pun intended!]  the day that Spanx finally burst on to the fashion scene.

After years of forcing our bodies into Queen Victoria-type whalebone corsets and unforgiving granny girdles – at last, an alternative! Spanx brought us a range of machine washable, easy to wear shapewear underwear that neatly creates the illusion that we’ve all spent weeks, if not months, sweating it out in the gym, or pounding the streets in Lycra and  trainers. [As if!]

Well, many of us agree that life’s too short to spend in pursuit of some A-lister’s dream body, although that does leave us with the small problem of hiding any disfiguring lumps and bumps that we may not want to show to the world in all their wobbly glory. Given the number of form-fitting body con dresses hitting the high street at the moment, we were all in sore need of the Spanx solution.

So, the dream of having a sleek, perfectly contoured silhouette is finally within our eager grasp. Spanx have come up with a pretty large range of underwear, too – not just tummy-hugging knickers as beloved by the Bridget Jones’s of this world.

Whatever your need, Spanx can probably fit the bill. An ever-growing range now includes full and half slips, panties, camisoles, and thigh-busting shorts from which to choose. They really seem to have thought of everything! Unlike some of the other brands which offer much, but deliver less, Spanx are actually comfortable to wear, and sport delicate, feminine features that don’t make you feel as though you’re encased in bandages, but rather being gently hugged by the sleek fabric.

And talking of fabric, well, that’s great, too – a double layered material to help minimise bumps, and little details, such as offering slips that are discreetly strapless, means that we can keep our secret helping hand … well, secret.

Childrens Jewellery, the ultimate gift for a Special Occasion

Childrens Jewellery, the ultimate gift for a Special Occasion

Jewellery is an amazing treasure for any child; its sparkly, shiny nature really appeals to girls and a new gift of jewellery is something special for them. Particularly a special item of jewellery made with quality materials such as silver or semi-precious stones which is meant to be kept by the child for a long time.

There are several occasions upon which a jewellery gift would be appropriate for a child. This article will discuss some of these occasions and also ideas for particular items of childrens jewellery which might appeal.

Many children’s first piece of jewellery is a christening or naming ceremony gift. Extendible baby bracelets are popular, because they grow with the baby and they can be engraved. A few different ideas are a small silver locket, a cross (depending on religion), or a pendant of the child’s birthstone. This is a great gift because it’s special to the particular child.

When children are bridesmaids or flower girls, it’s a common tradition for the bride to buy them a gift, which is often jewellery. A great idea is a silver charm bracelet with a few charms which commemorate their day, for example a heart to symbolise the wedding they were bridesmaid at. This way the parents and other relatives can buy more charms for other special occasions and add to the bracelet. The great thing about a charm bracelet is it’s very easy to add extra links and make it longer, as the child grows older.

A good piece of advice, which sounds obvious but is not always followed, is to discuss the gift with the parents before buying it; it might be similar to something they have already bought, or they might have a different idea that they would prefer the child to receive. This way you can be guaranteed your gift of jewellery will be loved and treasured.

Choosing the perfect dress and accessories

Choosing the perfect dress and accessories

There are so many dresses out there this season. Which one should you choose? Sometimes it can really get overwhelming. You find sundresses, minis, wraps, trapeze, babydolls, and so on. Don’t worry. There is help! You can find the perfect dress no matter what body type you are. Knowing what will work is the key to looking great for any occasion.

You will also need to consider what kind of jewellery and accessories should be worn with the dress for maximum impact!

Petite

Trendy short dresses do well. Avoid wearing over-sized dresses because they will swallow your figure. You don’t want to hide your little-figure. Try not to wear too many belts that fit right at the waist if you have a short mid-section. This will cut you in half. If you have to wear a belt to complete your look, then wear a loose one and let it hang a little in a V-shape.

Larger Waist

Choose a dress that will lower or even hide the waistline. A dress that drops the waist down to the hips or one that has no waist and is a little loose will work well for you.

Big Arms

Wear sleeves that are a little puffed or lantern shaped. Don’t choose a tight sleeve fitted dresses. If you want short sleeves, make sure they are loose and hang petal-like. This will help disguise the flabby under-arm area.

Wide Shoulders

Avoid puffy sleeves. Big broad tops with narrow skirts will really accentuate those shoulders, and you don’t want that. Padded shoulders can give you a football player effect. Look for details in the dresses that balance the upper and lower parts of the body. Rounded necklines will soften the shoulder area.

Unattractive Legs

If you feel you have unattractive legs, then wear a bit longer dress. Wear dresses that are mid-calved or longer. Dresses with lacy bottom halves are nice. Wear boots sometimes with your long dresses too.

Large Bust

Do not wear form-fitting tops if you want to tone down the upper area. Loose necklines that drape downward or are v-shaped would be the most flattering. Just as the wide-shouldered concern, choose body-balancing details in the dress.

Small Bust

Find dresses that have more upper detail or have added features like bows if you want more volume in the chest area. But really, dresses hang better on women with smaller busts.

Big Hips & Thighs

You want to wear silky, soft, skirts that just skim over the bottom half. Avoid tight bottom dresses. The top area should be open or have a print or shape that just pops out. This will draw more attention to shoulders, neck, and face.

Full Figure

Wear dresses that are kind of breezy, but not puffy, and that drape softly over your nice curves. You don’t have to be afraid to show some skin.

Chances are good that your friend only has your best interests at heart and has a valid reason for thinking that you and this other person may hit it off. Even if you go and you don’t hit it off, it’s not the end of the world. Hopefully, you still had a nice time and got the chance to meet someone new even if the relationship doesn’t turn into a romantic one. A new friendship may blossom regardless. Fashions for the Bottom Heavy Shape

Fashions for the Bottom Heavy Shape

All us women have some part of our body we want to hide and luckily for us, fashions are made to do just that. The pear shaped body is one with hips being wider than the shoulders and things that are round. Choosing fashions that show a shapely waist can take care of all those things. This body type should wear A-line skirts that end at the knee since this will hide the hips.
For pants, they should begin just below the natural waist and a bootcut or even straight leg is advisable. Cargo pockets will only make for bigger legs. As for shorts, anything loose fitting for workouts of course, otherwise pick ones with slimming side stripes.
Tops should not be to baggy because you will look bigger all over and to tight, throws you out of proportion. Top should be fitting but not skin tight and choose V-necks and button up tops. Any jacket or coat you wear should never stop at your widest point, meaning not a the thigh. Pick a waist coat or a longer coat that ends near you knees. And keep them open as this will also create a long look.

Swimsuits for Pregnancy

Swimsuits for Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing and should not stop you from enjoying the sun. Some moms-to-be choose bikinis so they don’t have to worry about the middle part fitting, but as time passes, a one piece might be something you will consider.
There are stretchy one pieces for moms-to-be that you can wear all summer with any trouble. There are also those that can be let out or are adjustable as you expand. Extra support for the bust might be another thought at your time passes.
You might want to take your measurements before you leave the house so if you go for two pieces, you will be better able to pick off the rack and not spend all day finding the one that is the right size. If your pregnancy will go through the whole summer then spend the extra bucks for a well made suit since it will probably be the only one you will wear the whole season. That way you won’t worry about the stretch of the suit. Your suit should allow you to do all those fun summer things and not to just sit on the sand and watch the other have fun.
